Internship

Get Involved

Internships are offered to graduate and undergraduate students in a variety of fields including, but not limited to: Social Work, Psychology, Marine Biology or Environmental Studies. This is also your place if you are a student looking to get experience but also have fun during the summer break, year around, or want to get credit for a subject.

Dive Kulture is a community-based program, which offers scuba diving certification, environmental education, subsequent work placement, and follow up to inner-city adolescents in Boston. The positive therapeutic impact of diving comes from increased self-esteem and trust, improved self-concept and enhanced mood of participants, through the sense of competence that comes from mastery of a difficult task. Since divers need to stay calm and trust their buddies to be safe, diving also functions as a coping mechanism to regulate emotions and mediate stress reactions in difficult situations.

The internship offers different opportunities - we seek individuals to help with:

  • Project development, grant writing and fundraising.
  • Providing therapy and case management to adolescents and their families to ensure the successful participation in the program.
  • Providing environmental education

Qualifications: Applicants must be dynamic, have excellent communication and writing skills, a desire to learn, flexibility and a pro-active attitude. A desire to get "wet" and spend some time in the pool with the participants would make the applicant's internship experience more meaningful, fun and rewarding.

Salary: None

Hours: 10-15/week

We encourage people from different ethnicities to apply.
